Remove bottom engine compartment paneling

Unscrew nuts (1) and remove screw/bolts from transmission bell

Remove cover (2) from crankcase

Checking

Check splines of ring gear for drive plate

Check splines for wear and damage by rotating engine at the center bolt for crankshaft in its direction of rotation. The engine can only be turned in a removed fan unit:

Remove fan unit

Replace clutch plate if necessary:

Replace drive plate.

Insert retaining lock (01) into access opening

If required, rotate engine further at center bolt for crankshaft in engine's direction of rotation until the retaining lock (01) snaps into place.
