Remove fan unit

Detach charge air cooler and place to one side with attached coolant lines

Only detach poly-V belt from belt pulley/vibration damper.

Install retaining lock for crankshaft/starter ring gear

Remove the center bolt (2) for the belt pulley/vibration damper (1)

 Center bolt, vibration damper

Detach belt pulley/vibration damper (1) from crankshaft

 Installation: The installation position is defined by the feather key of the crankshaft and the groove on the belt pulley/vibration damper.



Check

Check freewheel for the belt pulley/vibration damper (1) and check belt pulley/vibration damper (1) for damage; replace if necessary

Check front crankshaft radial sealing ring; replace if necessary

Install in the reverse order

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform an engine test run and check engine for leaktightness

When replacing crankshaft radial sealing ring.

 Flywheel, drive plate, vibration damper, starter ring gear
