Remove/install

Remove the fan.

Only if installed.

Remove front fan poly-V belt (1).

Only for vehicles with a 3-belt drive.

Remove rear fan poly-V belt (2).

Only for vehicles with a 3-belt drive.

Slacken basic belt drive poly-V-belt (3) and remove from the belt pulley/vibration damper (4).

Remove belt pulley (5) from fan carrier flank (7).

Only for vehicles with a 3-belt drive.

Attach turning device to the timing case and block flywheel with turning device.

Remove screws (6) and remove fan carrier flank (7).

Only on vehicles with 1-belt drive or with 3-belt drive.

 Screw/bolt, fan carrier flank to vibration damper

Loosen screws (8) and then remove a screw (8) on the left side of the belt pulley/vibration damper (4).

 Bolt, vibration damper to crankshaft

Screw drift (9) into the threaded hole.

Remove remaining screws (8) from the belt pulley/vibration damper (4).

 Bolt, vibration damper to crankshaft

Release belt pulley/vibration damper (4), turn on drift (9), and remove from crankshaft flange.

Remove slinger (10).

 Installation: Install slinger (10) with the flat side facing the belt pulley/vibration damper (4).



Check

Check belt pulley/vibration damper (4) and all belt pulleys, tensioner pulleys, and guide pulleys of the driven component parts for damage and concentricity.

If damage is identifiable



Replace component in question.

Install in the reverse order.
