1 Remove the rough edges from the sides of the hole which houses the radial retainer and clean it (arrow).
2 Check the ballrace of the radial retainer of the crankshaft, on the flange of the crankshaft.
If a running groove from the old radial retainer is seen on the crankshaft, use the stepped bore tool (repair position), to bore the new radial retainer of the crankshaft.
With the aid of the bore tool for the repair position the radial retainer of the crankshaft is bored another 3 mm.
S03.20-3001-01
3 Screw the lower part of the bore tooling on the crankshaft.
4 Cover the stopper lip of the radial retainer of the crankshaft and the opposite ballrace with engine oil
Do not use grease
Grease would make it impossible for the cross cores of the stopper lip to let engine oil be transported to the housing.
5 Install the radial retainer of the crankshaft on the lower part of the bore tooling.
S03.20-3002-01
6 With the aid of the bore tooling, insert the radial retainer of the crankshaft in the sealing cover as far as it goes.
Make sure the radial retainer of the crankshaft is seated correctly.
