1	Remove engine		AR01.10-I-2400C
2	Remove all pistons		AR03.10-I-7021B
3	Remove oil pump		AR18.10-I-6020B
4	Remove timing case		AR01.60-I-8200B
5	Detach crankshaft gear (8)
6	Remove all main bearing caps (5, 6) and thrust plate (4)	 Mark main bearing caps (5, 6) in sequence concerning the installation location.
7	Remove lower crankshaft bearing shell (3) from the main bearing caps (5, 6)	 Mark lower crankshaft bearing shells (3) relative to the respective main bearing cap (5, 6).
8	Lift crankshaft (1) out of the crankcase
9	Remove upper crankshaft bearing shells (2) from crankshaft bearing points in the cylinder crankcase	 Mark upper crankshaft bearing shells (2) relative to the respective associated crankshaft bearing in the cylinder crankcase.
10	Clean main oil duct		AR01.40-I-8501B
	Checking
11	Inspect crankshaft bearing shells (2, 3) for wear	 If one crankshaft bearing shell (2, 3) is worn then all crankshaft bearing shells (2, 3) must be replaced.

12	Check crankshaft (1) and crankshaft bearing		AR03.20-I-4355B
13	Check shank length (L) of bolts (7).	 If shank length (L) of a bolt (7) is exceeded the bolt (7) must be replaced.	*BE01.40-N-1010-02B
	Install
14	Lay crankshaft (1) in the crankshaft bearing in the cylinder crankcase
15	Install all main bearing caps (5)	 Do not install main bearing cap (6) for the fitted bearing yet. All main bearing caps (5) are fitted into the crankcase at the side off-centered from the middle and are marked with numbers (arrows). Main bearing caps (5) must be installed according to numbers, in ascending order, beginning from the front of the crankcase, and must not be mixed up.

16	Determine thickness of both thrust plates (4) for the fitted bearing and install the main bearing cap (6) of the fitted bearing		AR03.20-W-4351-01B

17	Attach crankshaft sprocket (8) to crankshaft flange	 The marking "1" on the crankshaft gear (8) must lie between the marking "1-1" of the camshaft sprocket (10).

19	Install oil pump		AR18.10-I-6020B
20	Install all pistons		AR03.10-I-7021B
21	Replace oil filter element
