1 Deburr edge of mounting hole for radial seal (1) at timing case cover.
2 Oil sealing lip of radial seal (1).
Do not use grease. Grease prevents the inclined webs and the sealing lip transporting back the engine oil.
3 Fit radial seal (1) onto the insertion sleeve (2).
If a wear groove from the old radial seal can be felt at the hub of the belt pulley/vibration damper, use insertion sleeve 606 589 00 14 00 with larger insertion depth (repair position).
4 Align insertion sleeve (2) to parallel key on the crankshaft (arrows).
5 Push insertion sleeve (2) onto the crankshaft. Turn to ensure that the slot of the insertion sleeve is aligned with the parallel key (arrow) in the crankshaft.
6 Draw in insertion sleeve (2) as far as the stop with the central bolt and dished washers.
The radial seal must be positioned at right angle to the crank journal otherwise proper sealing is not assured.
