Dial indicator holder
Measure the position of the piston on PMS relative to the block surface. To avoid the piston tilting effect, carry out the measuring in the wrist pin direction, on both sides.
1
Suitably fasten the support (1) with the dial indicator (2) so its feeler rests on the surface of the block (4).
2
Set the scale of the dial indicator to zero with some precharging.
3
Turn the engine in the operating direction and follow the end of stroke of the piston (3) with the dial gage feeler resting on it. The PMS corresponds to the maximum point where the hand stops starting the return.
4
Taking as reference the PMS of the piston (3), measure the distance from this to the crankcase deck (4)..
Measure the height of all engine pistons.
If the value found does not correspond to the stipulated, replace the pistons, or machine the crankcase deck, depending on the case.
It is not permitted, under any circumstances, to machine the pistons.
The machining of the crankcase deck must follow one of the three stipulated repair stages measuring, which will be completed with the respective set of pistons.
