Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Remove/install

Drain off or extract engine oil.



 Installation: Approved engine oils are to be taken from the manufacturer's Specifications for Operating Fluids. Install drain screw (6) with the new sealing ring (5).

Remove electrical connector (3) from the engine management control unit and disconnect.

Expose electric line of the fill level sensor (7).

Remove filler line (4) from oil pan (1).

Remove oil pan (1).

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces on engine and on oil pan (1) and replace seal (2).

Change fill level sensor (7).

Only when replacing the oil pan (1).

 In order to change the fill level sensor (7) use a socket with size 27.

Install in the reverse order



Check

Start engine and perform an engine test run.

 See information from body manufacturer.
Allow engine to run in idle for approx. 10 s until the oil pressure is built up; then, allow the engine to run at varying engine speeds.

Switch off engine and check in the area of the oil pan (1) for leak tightness.

 Visual inspection.

Check oil level and correct if necessary.

 Approved engine oils are to be taken from the manufacturer's Specifications for Operating Fluids.
