1 Use straightedge (2) to inspect flatness of crankcase contact surface (1) over its entire length.
2 Check variation with a feeler gage.
Only if there is a visible chink of light. It must not be possible to insert the feeler gage between crankcase contact surface (1) and straightedge (2). If inspection is carried out in the transverse direction, the permissible variation stated is merely a reference value and cannot be measured.
