Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

No one should be within the swivel range of the engine hood as it is being opened or closed. Always open engine hood all the way to the end position until this engages in the front locks.

Remove/install

Raise up engine hood

Installation: Only close the engine hood after the leak test.

Remove cover for front disc frame

Only for removing the cylinder head cover (1) at cylinder 4 to 6.

Remove hoses for crankcase ventilation system

Only for removing the cylinder head cover (1) at cylinder 4 to 6.

Remove line for air presser supply (3)

Only for removing the cylinder head cover (1) at cylinder 3.

Remove cylinder head cover (1)

Installation: Make sure that the seal (2) is seated correctly.

Remove seal (2)

Installation: Clean the sealing surfaces of cylinder head cover (1), the seal (2) and the cylinder head
Check seal (2) for damage, replace if necessary.

Install in the reverse order

Check area around the cylinder head cover (1) for a running engine for leaktightness

Perform a visual inspection only and then switch off the engine.
