Risk of accident as vehicle may start off by itself with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving off by itself.
Wear closed and tight-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Operate parking brake

Turn steering lock to driving position and switch on ignition

Engage battery disconnect switch (if present).

Inspect

Switch on and off all lights, devices and equipment whose function is indicated by an indicator lamp in the dashboard.

Some checks are carried out with the engine running (such as charge indicator lamp, oil pressure indicator).

Check that indicator lamps function correctly.

If the indicator lamps malfunction: Ascertain the cause and rectify the faults, as a separate repair order.

Press the button (1) on the combination switch to check operation of the horn.

Check function of instrument illumination and dimmer

Check operation of the interior lamps by switching them on and off.
