Removing

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Open front flap

Place a suitable receptacle under fuel prefilter

Remove bleed screw (3)

Open water drain valve (7) and drain water/fuel mixture

Dispose of the water/fuel mixture in accordance with the relevant environmental laws and regulations.

Separate connector (4)

Remove filter element (6) with water separator (5) from filter head (1)

Remove water separator (5) from filter element (6)

Clean water separator (5), check for damage and replace if necessary

Install

Coat seal ring of new filter element (6) and new seal ring for water separator (5) with engine oil

Place filter element (6) on filter head (1) and tighten by hand

Do not use any tools when tightening.

Place water separator (5) with new seal ring on filter element (6) and tighten by hand

Do not use any tools when tightening.

Close water drain valve (7)

Bleeding

Release hand wheel (2) of manual fuel pump

Using manual fuel pump, fill fuel prefilter until fuel is discharged bubble-free at ventilation bore

Tighten bleed screw (3)

Continue pumping by hand until increased resistance is felt

Secure hand wheel (2) of manual fuel pump

Checking

Start engine and allow to idle

Check fuel prefilter for leaks

20

Turn off engine

Close front flap
