Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. | |
1 | Start the engine, align all front wheels in the straight position and turn off the engine | ||
2 | Check steering play (A) on the steering wheel | Turn the steering wheel alternately to the right and to the left to move the front wheels. | |
Admissible play on the steering wheel in its central position | |||
In case the steering play (A) admissible on the steering wheel is exceeded: | |||

Check the steering box and steering bars (3, 8) for inadmissible plays - with separate invoicing. | |||
Check the steering rods | |||
3 | Check the rubber hoods (6) of the connecting bars (1) and the steering bars (3, 8) in all steerable axles | Carefully check the rubber hoods (6) for damages in its full periphery and in the folds caused by the installation position. Check the settlement of the rubber hoods (6) on its support face. | |
In case of damaged or leaking rubber hood (6): | |||

Replace the corresponding ball terminal. If necessary, replace the connecting bar (1) or the entire steering bar (3, 8) - with separated invoicing. | |||
4 | Individually check the terminals of steering bars (3, 8) and connection (1) bars of all steering axles for plays | Wrap each ball terminal of steering (3, 8) and connecting bars (1) with your thumb and forefinger, while the steering wheel is rotated alternately to the right and to the left. | |
If there is noticeable play in the ball terminals: | |||

Replace the ball terminals for the corresponding connecting bar (1) or steering bar (3, 8). If necessary, replace the connecting bar (1) or the entire steering bar (3, 8) - with separated invoicing. | |||
5 | Check the connecting bars (1), steering bars (3, 8), steering arms (5) and connection arms (7, 9) of all steerable axles for fixing and damages | If damage or failures are verified: | |
