1	Clean the area around the oil filler opening
2	Unscrew oil filler screw (1)	 The vehicle must be horizontal and the oil in the rear axle must be at operating temperature for checking the oil level. Collect escaping oil in a suitable vessel.
	Check
3	Check oil level	 The oil must be at the bottom edge of the oil filler opening (arrow). If there is a lack of oil, check the rear axle for leaks and if necessary eliminate the leaks found against a separate order.
4	Correct the oil level if necessary	 On rear axle 746.2 with sealed differential, observe change in oil quality otherwise damage to the differential assembly can occur.
