Risk of injury caused by pinching or crushing when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension

Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary.
Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection).
Wear protective gloves.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Detach front lower engine compartment paneling

Loosen poly-V-belt (1)

 Release poly-V belts (1) from below.

Pin for locking poly-V belt tensioning device

Remove poly-V-belt (1)

 When carrying out further operations on the engine or timing case cover, relieve pressure on tensioning device. Inspect belt pulley sections and tensioning device for damage and dirt, replace if necessary.

Check guide pulleys for signs of wear

 If wear detected, subject to separate repair order:



Fit on poly V-belt (1)

 Do not use belt wax or any similar products. Fit on poly-V belt (1), beginning at the tensioner pulley.
