Engine 364; 366; 400
Do not use mechanical processes to clean the nozzles, such as: metal needles, iron brush, sandpaper etc.
The application of these methods will cause damages to the nozzles, mainly to the edge of the injection openings, being this the main cause of loss of engine power and emission of black smoke. With the deformation of the edge of the injection openings, the jet looses the right direction inside the combustion chamber, causing the cited abnormalities.
Through regular verification in nozzle testing equipment, the damages to injection openings is not verified. Only with the aid of a lens (with a minimum of 6 times maximization) the damage/necking is rendered possible.
The formation of small deposits normally does not interfere on the operation of the nozzles, nor on the combustion, not needing to be eliminated/removed. Only when nozzles present large deposits, normally linked with the use of non-filtered fuel, or when the evaluation of the nozzles condition is to happen, it will be necessary to proceed to their cleaning
The right operation of the nozzles is only guaranteed when there are injection openings with visible edges. We recommend the cleaning, when necessary, is done by ultrasonic.
Ultrasonic cleaning
On the ultrasonic cleaning, nozzles and nozzle holders must be soaked vertically in detersive, the injection openings turned down.
The detersive solution must contain water and a specific detersive, such as “Titan SU 103”. In case this product is used, the indicated concentration is 01 part of detersive to 14 parts of water.
In case other products will be used, observe the manufacturer's indications.
The temperature of the solution, controlled by the ultrasonic equipment, must be of 60° during the cleaning.
The time of exposure to the bath depends on how dirty the parts are. It is recommended as minimum exposure times:
- 10 min for nozzle holders
- 15 min for nozzles
Additional information
- After the ultrasonic cleaning, the parts must be immediately washed in common solvent (kerosene, gasoline, diesel etc.), blown with compressed air and soaked in test oil ISO 4113.
- In case the whole nozzle holder set is to be cleaned, it must be washed out on the nozzle test equipment.
- When cleaning the nozzles, remove the needle from the nozzle body. Both parts are to be cleaned separately, with attention not to mix up needles and nozzles. To do so, we recommend the use of an appropriate holder (WF58.50-B-0710-02A).
- The solution must be replaced according to need, in regard of how dirty the parts are.
Before using the cleaning liquid, read handling instructions and abide to security measures, such as using gloves and protection masks, for hand and eye protection. Being highly alkaline, the prolonged contact with it may cause injuries to the skin
After using the solution, neutralize it before discard.
