2 Display, green field
In diagnosis mode the control modules of all electronics systems connected can be called up On-Board in the instrument cluster to
display stored faults
and
erase the fault memory.
The Mercedes-Benz part number of the respective control module and system-specific actual values (measured values and binary values) can be displayed in addition to the fault displays.
In the diagnostic mode the control modules are displayed in the green field (2) of the display with their abbreviation. After activation of the diagnostic mode always the "Maintenance system" control module abbreviated "WS/FSS" appears first on the display.
Current malfunctions or errors are displayed permanently with the abbreviation of the corresponding control module and a five-digit Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in the red field on the display (1).
If a general vehicle CAN bus error is present only an exclamation mark "!" appears in the red field.

Activating diagnosis mode:
1 Press the SYSTEM button (1) with ignition switched on until the code designation of the control module required appears on the green field of the display.
2 To call up the stored data press the INFO button (3) until the information required appears on the green field of the display.
Display sequence of data memory information:
MB part number
Fault codes (current and stored fault codes
Actual values (measured values and binary values)
After the final display continuing to press the INFO button (3) will start the display of data memory information again.
Continuing diagnosis mode with another control module:
To continue diagnosis mode, press the SYSTEM button (1) until the code designation of the next control module required appears on the green field.
The next control module can be selected immediately from any data memory display position using the SYSTEM button (1).
Terminating diagnosis mode:
Press the QUIT button (2) to terminate diagnosis mode.
Irrespective of the current diagnosis display, it is possible to change from diagnosis mode to normal mode immediately using the QUIT button (2).

Reading out/erasing the fault memory of the appropriate control module:
1 Activate diagnosis mode and select the appropriate control module.
2 Call up all stored fault codes in sequence using the INFO button (3). The fault codes appear in the green field of the display.
Example of a fault code: R E T F 0 1
a 1 0 9 0 2
'RET' Code designation of the fault system
'F01' Position of fault in fault memory
'a' Current (only appears for current faults)
'1' Validity
'09' Fault path
'02' Type of fault
The fault memory can be erased in all operating areas of the appropriate diagnosis mode. Before erasing, always call up and note all fault codes for any subsequent troubleshooting.
3 To erase, press the RESET button (4) first, keep this pressed down and then also press the QUIT button (2).
4 To confirm erasing this, the code designation of the appropriate electronic system and the RESET symbol is displayed on the green field of the display for 2 seconds.
5 The RESET symbol goes out once erasing is complete, only the code designation of the system is still displayed and diagnosis mode can now be continued with the INFO button (3) or SYSTEM button (1) or terminated with the QUIT button (2).
